~Chicken and Rice
We fail to see the grammatical errors that surface in our everyday life.
Go to the market, food courts, kopitaims and coffee shops and you will see this "Chicken Rice". I have always held a grudge towards it. No matter how hard we try to speak good English, this grammactial error will ensure that all that work goes down the drain! WHy?
Chicken rice suggest that the rice is of the chicken species. So does this suggest that for duck rice, the rice is of duck species. Chicken rice also suggest that you can describe the rice as being chicken. They need some courage.
It does not make sense! I suggest that stalls change the sign board to be Boiled Chicken with Rice. How about that?
