~All that Beauty Queen
Ask me " What do you feel the world needs now?"
In a teeager's point of view, i feel that we teenagers need more confidence.
It just occured that this answer by a Miss USA contestant, who eventually won the crown, had a superb answer that was not a single bit white blonde dumb answers that i expected.
If we all had some more confidence in ourselves, each other and the things we do , there would be a definite decline in teenagers consuming drugs, smoking, comitting theft, lying, and back-stabbing.
Acts such as theft, cosuming alcohol and drugs are just excellent examples that we are under pressures from peers. If we would have more confidence, we would be able to stand up to such pressures and affirm our stand. We no longer seek confidence from our peers that gives us nothing but a false sense of achievement. Our little more confidence in our own decision would enable us to not rely on group acceptance anymore.
Acts such as lying to and back-stabbing even the closet of friends are superb examples that we do not believe in ourselves. We are not assured of ourselves and do not believe in our decisions and the potential we have to achieve our goals. Therefore, we are slaves under the pressures to use indespictable measures to achieve our goals. We are blinded by the attraction of the easier way out that we forsake what is the right thing to do. If we would have more confidence, we would be able to stand up to the demons within ourselves. Our little more confidence in ourselves would enable us to simply make upright decisions.
I do not have an excellent level of self-esteem. I just try to wake up everyday, look into the mirror and tell myself that i can do it. As Nike puts it : Just do it. I guess self-esteem is something no one can give us but is something that we give ourselves.
To be continued. (Going to have lunch and Lao Yu Shen)
