Eating is no doubt a national past time. Our idea of fun is to eat at one place and go to another place to eat again. If we are lucky, we head on to makan place number 3.
The past weekends have been great in terms of food. We went to many new places. Like Basil Alcove at Fortune Cente, Secret Garden at Waterloo Street and Wine Company at Bukit Timah/Merah? OOps the problem of being driven! MWahaha Brat. Noto to mention the Prata Place beside the Wine Company!
Secret Garden and Wine Company are pretty much fine dining places where the ambience is cool and laid back. Extremely ideal for deserts. Basil Alcove is like fine dining food in a hawker setting.
So back to our makan journey a couple of weeks ago. We went to Basil Alcove for dinner, head down to the Wine Company to check the place out and then pop by next door at the Prata place out of plain greed. A night of high-calorie, carbo and all thats obviously no good. I was filled to the brim due to greed yet there was not a single bit of guilt but a whole lot of satisfaction.
Cheese platter and wine did not go with the Prata. But oh wells, why bother. I love the ambience and nice settings of the Wine Company and their delectable spread (Mental Note: Try Molten Chocolate Cake). Yet, i love the causal and familiar feeling of Prata places.
I love nice high teas yet i will never give up Kiliney Toast with ice cold milk tea after PE. I like my restaurants and love my Pek Kio hawker centres too.
